Last week I posted article VII. of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as part of my Theological Thursdays. John MacArthur, in his sermon, “Baptism: A Matter of Obedience,” said that he thinks that over 50% of believers today have never been scripturally baptized. He gives five reasons why a person may have never been baptized; ignorance, pride, indifference, defiance, or perhaps they have never been born again. This past Sunday I took the time to address baptism in our church and looked at scripture pertaining to 1) the mode of baptism, 2) the meaning of baptism, 3) the proper candidate for baptism, and 4) the command of baptism.
