Preaching Ephesians
I’m planning to begin preaching through Ephesians. I’ve collected an arm full of resources to help me in my study, understanding, and proclamation of this glorious epistle. My desk stack includes:
- James Montgomery Boice - Ephesians: An Expositional Commentary
- F.F. Bruce - The Epistles to the Colossians, to Philemon, and to the Ephesians (NICNT)
- Charles Hodge - Ephesians
- R. Kent Hughes - Ephesians: The Mystery of the Body of Christ
- Martyn Lloyd-Jones - Exposition of Ephesians
- Simon J. Kistemaker - Baker’s New Testament Commentary
- Andrew T. Lincoln - Ephesians: Word Biblical Commentary Vol. 42
- John Macarthur - Ephesians: New Testament Commentary
- R. C. Sproul - The Purpose of God: An Exposition of Ephesians
- John R. W. Stott - The Message of Ephesians (The Bible Speaks Today)
- A. Skevington Wood - Galatians/Ephesians: Expositor’s Bible Commentary
- Ephesians -Philemon: Expositor’s Bible Commentary
- Curtis Vaughan - Ephesians: Founders Study Guide Commentary
I also book marked the Ephesians page of the Bible Bulletin Board and loaded my ipod with sermons by John Piper, Mark Driscoll, and Joseph Braden.

*John Macarthur - Ephesians: New Testament Commentary*
Hey Don, this ought to be interesting when you come to Ephesians 2
Actually, I have this commentary, it it is very good…if you understand his presuppositional dispensationalism.
You have an excellent list there. Lloyd-Jones is one of the best on Ephesians. And don’t leave Calvin out of there!
May the Lord bless your study of His word as you begin this wonderful book.

Don,
will you be posting any of your messages as mp3’s? I’d be interested in following along with this series.

I know a man can only look at so many resources, but may I recommend The Letter to the Ephesians by Peter O’Brien in the Pillar NTC series? Chosen in Him by Kenneth Good also is valuable. God bless your studies and ministry! Steve
