Metal Building
Thursday, December 15th, 2005 | Hurricane Katrina
Stephen Ake posted lots of pictures from his last trip to Lakeshore. He chronicled the erection of our temporary metal building. Although the teams working on it might disagree, the structure went up very quickly. The truck drop shipped the parts late Tuesday afternoon and we held services under the roof on Sunday. Several folks who stop by only on the weekends, stood amazed at the weeks progress. We still need to close in the doors, tighten down all the bolts, roll out the flooring, put in partition walls, build the restrooms, wire the electrical system, and install the air/ heat. We plan to have a few classrooms, a sanctuary, storage space, and restrooms in the 38X90 building. If you would like to help with this project, contact our coordinator, Greg London at (770)402-3419.
Lakeshore Baptist Church owes Jim Howell of Emanuel Baptist Church, a debt of gratitude for doing the leg work to select and procure the building. Their church in Florida partnered with First Baptist Church Clinton LA to purchase the kit and materials.
A news reporter stopped by while they worked and asked where the team was from. Looking over the construction site I tried to list the teams. Folks from Florida, north Mississippi, Georgia, Ohio, and two churches from Louisiana all worked along side locals to get the building up. I probably missed someone. We stand amazed at God’s outpouring of help that has flooded in from all sides. We will need a steady stream over the next few years as we rebuild our church facilities, church members homes, and our entire community. We look forward to what God continues to do in our midst for His glory.

I’ve read and seen all through this website; I’m glad someone is brave and humble enough to share with the rest of the world what y’ll are LIVING THROUGH DAILY. As I sit here with tears streaming down my face, I’m full of anticipation of our mission trip there in Jan and April. Even that, seems so small to want to reach out and hug each and all of you. You’re in our prayers.

Don, I am praying about getting down to serve you and the church. I am not sure if you know but I resigned my church, and I am in the process of looking. If things work out I hope to give you a call and see when would be a good time to come down and serve you.
